MONACO, 30 June 2016 — Lady Monika Bacardi attended the prestigious tenth anniversary celebration of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, joining distinguished guests at the Monaco Yacht Club and Sporting Monte-Carlo’s Salle des Étoiles for a series of events honoring a decade of environmental leadership.
The Foundation, established in 2006 by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, marked this significant milestone with a full day of ceremonies that united eminent figures, partners, and dedicated members who have contributed to ten years of environmental protection and sustainable development initiatives.

The celebration commenced with the twentieth meeting of the Foundation’s Board of Directors at the Prince’s Palace, followed by the second joint meeting of the Board and Scientific and Technical Committee. During the afternoon press conference at the Monaco Yacht Club, H.S.H. Prince Albert II presented the 2016 Foundation Awards to exceptional individuals whose work exemplifies commitment to planetary protection. The awards recognized achievements across the Foundation’s three priority areas: biodiversity conservation, sustainable water resource management, and climate change mitigation.
The prestigious 2016 awards honored Luc Hoffmann for his visionary approach to biodiversity protection through the MAVA Foundation, the Biological Station of Tour du Valat, and WWF International. The Water Research Commission, represented by Director General Dhesigen Naidoo, received recognition for outstanding contributions to sustainable water management in South Africa. Laurence Tubiana was honored for her remarkable commitment to climate issues, her creation of IDDRI, and her instrumental role in the successful COP21 negotiations.
The evening gala at the Sporting’s Salle des Étoiles featured the premiere of a special anniversary film chronicling the Foundation’s decade of achievements, followed by the awards ceremony and the presentation of the Camp Monaco Prize 2016 to distinguished researchers Dr. Craig M. Lee, Dr. David McWethy, and Dr. Gregory T. Pederson. The celebration concluded with a performance by Canadian artist Véronic DiCaire.
