Based on John Steinbeck’s acclaimed 1936 novel, In Dubious Battle chronicles the struggle of agricultural workers in California’s apple orchards during the Great Depression. The powerful story traces the rise of labor activism as migrant workers unite against landowners after their wages are drastically reduced from $3 to $1 per day, capturing a pivotal moment in the formation of workers’ rights and minimum wage protections.
