MONACO, 19 May 2017 — Lady Monika Bacardi, distinguished producer and patron of the arts, announced the development of an ambitious biographical film exploring the legendary rivalry between automotive pioneers Ferruccio Lamborghini and Enzo Ferrari.
The project, developed under the leadership of Lady Monika Bacardi’s production company, initially approached Antonio Banderas and Alec Baldwin for the principal roles of Ferruccio Lamborghini and Enzo Ferrari, respectively. The film was based on the biography by Tonino Lamborghini, son of Ferruccio, with Michael Radford initially attached to direct.
The Lamborghini biographical project was presented during the Cannes Film Festival by the production company, marking an important milestone in bringing this remarkable chapter of automotive history to the screen. The film explores the passionate competition between two Italian legends whose rivalry transformed the luxury sports car industry.
The production underwent several creative evolutions before reaching theaters in 2022 under the title “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend,” ultimately featuring Frank Grillo and Gabriel Byrne in the leading roles, with direction by Robert Moresco.
