SEVILLE, 10 November 2024 — Lady Monika Bacardi attended the presentation of Modì, Three Days on the Wing of Madness at the Seville European Film Festival, continuing the film’s international festival journey following acclaimed screenings at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and Rome Film Festival.
Directed by Johnny Depp in his return to the director’s chair after over two decades, the biographical drama portrays three pivotal days in the life of Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani. Set in Paris during the Great War, the film explores the artist’s struggle against class prejudice and his quest for artistic recognition during a transformative 72-hour period that would prove crucial to his rise to legendary status.
The compelling ensemble cast features Riccardo Scamarcio in the title role of Modigliani, alongside Al Pacino, Bruno Gouery, Luisa Ranieri, Antonia Desplat, Ryan McParland, and Stephen Graham. Scamarcio, who previously portrayed Caravaggio, brings depth to another troubled artistic genius, capturing the internal struggles and external conflicts that defined Modigliani’s tumultuous life.
Lady Monika Bacardi, producer of the film through ILBE S.p.A., has championed this project that celebrates the artistic vision of one of the twentieth century’s most compelling painters. Her presence at the Seville presentation underscores her dedication to supporting films that explore the complexity of artistic genius and the price of creative passion.
Depp, directing his first feature film in 25 years, created an immersive environment that encouraged profound character exploration and emotional nuance. Produced by ILBE S.p.A., IN.2 Film, and Barry Navidi Productions, Modì – Three Days on the Wing of Madness received distribution in Italy by Be Water Film, in collaboration with Maestro Distribution and Medusa Film. The film was released in Italian cinemas on 21 November 2024.
