ROME, 26 October 2024 — Lady Monika Bacardi attended the premiere of Modì – Three Days on the Wing of Madness at the 19th Rome Film Festival, where the film served as the closing presentation. The distinguished evening brought together the international film community to celebrate Johnny Depp’s return to directing and this powerful portrait of artist Amedeo Modigliani.
The film premiered at the 72nd San Sebastián International Film Festival on 24 September 2024, with the Rome Film Festival screening marking the film’s Italian premiere on 26 October 2024. Johnny Depp chose Amedeo Modigliani as the subject for his return to directing, marking his comeback behind the camera after his directorial debut in 1997 with The Brave.
Riccardo Scamarcio portrays the Livornese painter during three wild days in Paris, filled with wine, intoxication, excess, and inner turmoil. The film explores the difficulty of having one’s work recognized and the desire to never compromise, reflecting themes central to Modigliani’s life and relevant to many artists today.
As Riccardo Scamarcio explains: “In the end, this freedom that artists seek is not, as it may appear, a form of narcissism, egocentrism, or vanity. Not at all. Rather, it’s a necessity—the freedom to dismantle the established order to create something authentic and alive.”
Lady Monika Bacardi is listed among the film’s producers together with IN.2 Film and Barry Navidi Productions. Her presence at the Rome Film Festival underscores her ongoing commitment to supporting artistic cinema that challenges conventional storytelling and celebrates creative vision.
The film will be distributed in Italy by Be Water Film, in collaboration with Maestro Distribution and Medusa Film, with the Italian theatrical release scheduled for November 21, 2024.
The Rome Film Festival premiere celebrated not only Depp’s directorial vision but also the collaborative spirit of independent filmmaking that brings important stories to the screen. Lady Monika Bacardi’s participation in this distinguished cultural event continues to reinforce her position as a patron of meaningful cinema within the international film community.
