VENICE, 29 August 2024 — Lady Monika Bacardi received the Award for Film Industry Leader at the prestigious Maria Callas Monaco Gala & Awards during its fourth edition held in Venice, Italy. The distinguished evening honored the legendary opera singer Maria Callas at the enchanting Lido of Venice, the location where Callas and Aristotle Onassis’s love story began in 1957.
The four-day celebration coincided with the 81st Venice International Film Festival and the premiere of “Maria,” director Pablo Larraín’s biographical film starring Angelina Jolie as the iconic soprano. The gala weekend featured awards ceremonies, a traditional gala dinner, opera and music concerts, gourmet dining experiences, and red carpet moments throughout Venice’s glamorous festival proceedings.

The awards themselves were crafted by renowned designer Christos Hatzivasiliou, while a remarkable statue of Maria Callas by acclaimed Brazilian artist Marcos Marin adorned the hotel’s garden.

The menu provided during the evening was inspired by dishes favored by Maria Callas herself, adding an authentic touch to the commemorative celebration.
