MONACO, 18 March 2025 — Lady Monika Bacardi chaired the Board of Directors meeting of the Association Les Amis du Centre Scientifique de Monaco, convening distinguished members to advance the organization’s mission of supporting scientific research excellence in the Principality.
The gathering marked a significant moment for Monaco’s scientific community, as the Board officially welcomed Dr. Jean-Jacques Risso, the newly appointed President of the Centre Scientifique de Monaco. An internationally recognized expert in deep-sea diving physiology, Dr. Risso brings extensive experience and an ambitious vision for the institution’s future.
In her address, Lady Monika Bacardi acknowledged the exceptional contributions of Dr. Risso’s predecessor, Professor Patrick Rampal, who led the Centre for two decades, and expressed confidence in the new President’s leadership to further the Centre’s pioneering work in marine biology, polar biology, and human health research.
The meeting also witnessed the appointment of Francesco Prazzo as Vice President of the Association Les Amis du Centre Scientifique de Monaco. Mr. Prazzo, Managing Director of SBM Offshore Monaco and a dedicated advocate for environmental sustainability and the Blue Economy, will collaborate closely with Lady Monika Bacardi to strengthen the association’s initiatives and foster partnerships that advance the Centre’s research objectives.
