ROME, 29 October 2023 — Lady Monika Bacardi attended the special screening of “Paradox Effect” at Alice nella Città, the autonomous and parallel section of the Rome Film Festival. The distinguished evening at the Auditorium della Conciliazione celebrated emerging talent, with actor Oliver Trevena receiving the Breakout Actor of the Year Award, presented by his “Plane” co-star Gerard Butler.
The twenty-first edition of Alice nella Città provided an elegant setting for this recognition of artistic excellence. Lady Monika Bacardi, producer of the film through ILBE, attended alongside director Scott Weintrob and members of the cast, including Olga Kurylenko and Harvey Keitel.

“Paradox Effect” brings to the screen the story of Karina, portrayed by Olga Kurylenko, a woman forced to confront Silvio, played by Harvey Keitel, a dangerous gangster who has kidnapped her young daughter Lucy. To increase her chances of success, Karina teams up with Covek, portrayed by Trevena, a corrupt Interpol agent navigating moral complexities in a high-stakes chase against time.
The film explores themes of redemption and moral choice as Karina, estranged from her daughter due to a past drug addiction, attempts to rebuild their relationship. When she witnesses a murder, she finds herself caught between following the killer’s orders or risking everything for those she loves. The narrative examines the tension between survival and revenge as Karina and Covek navigate a dangerous world controlled by crime boss Silvio.
