NEW YORK, 26 July 2017 — Lady Monika Bacardi, distinguished film producer and patron of the arts, is particularly pleased with her collaboration on the romantic drama “Here and Now” (originally titled “Best Day of My Life”), featuring an exceptional ensemble cast led by Sarah Jessica Parker.
The production brings together remarkable talent, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Renée Zellweger, Isabella Rossellini, Simon Baker, Taylor Kinney, Common, Gus Birney, and Jacqueline Bisset. The film is directed by Fabien Constant, with an original screenplay by Laura Eason.
Principal photography commenced in New York in July 2017, with the film shot over 16 days in the city.
“Here and Now” follows Vivienne (Sarah Jessica Parker), a jazz singer in New York who lives for herself and her music. A devastating medical diagnosis—a glioblastoma brain tumor—disrupts her universe and forces her to confront her priorities.
The film unfolds over 24 hours, during which audiences follow the singer as she navigates the preparation of a world tour while confronting her family relationships and obligations. It becomes a time for Vivienne to take stock of the successes and failures of her life, exploring profound themes of mortality and what truly matters.
Described as an homage to the 1962 Agnès Varda film “Cléo from 5 to 7,” the production represents Lady Monika Bacardi’s continued commitment to supporting bold, artistically ambitious cinema that challenges conventional storytelling boundaries.
The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on 19 April 2018, with AMBI Distribution and Paramount Pictures subsequently acquiring North American distribution rights. It was released in the United States on 9 November 2018.
Lady Monika Bacardi’s involvement as producer underscores her dedication to championing meaningful narratives that examine the human experience with both sensitivity and artistic integrity.
