FLORENCE, 9 May 2023 — Lady Monika Bacardi participated in Intelletto Delle Donne, a distinguished event dedicated to promoting gender equality and celebrating women’s contributions to media and cinema. The gathering took place at Palazzo Guadagni Strozzi Sacrati in Florence as part of Europe Day celebrations.
Producer and We Do It Together founder Chiara Tilesi curated a compelling panel examining the importance of narrative and the role of women in media and cinema. Lady Monika Bacardi joined an esteemed group of speakers including television presenter Milly Carlucci, actress Greta Scarano, and director Cinzia Th Torrini for this significant conversation.
The event, organized by La Toscana delle Donne initiative of the Tuscany Region, aligned with European Union principles emphasizing the removal of obstacles to women’s full expression of creativity and talent. Eugenio Giani, President of the Tuscany Region, articulated the program’s commitment: “Rights, but also qualities, talents, merits. It is the sense of our commitment to women and with women.”
President Giani referenced both Dante’s verse “Donne ch’avete intelletto d’amore” (Women who have the intellect of love) and Rita Levi Montalcini’s observation that “Women are the backbone of society” to underscore the strategic importance of supporting women’s potential for inclusive and sustainable development.
Lady Monika Bacardi’s participation reflected her ongoing dedication to advancing meaningful dialogue about gender equality and women’s representation in the entertainment industry. The panel addressed critical issues facing women in media and cinema, exploring how narrative storytelling can shape cultural perceptions and create opportunities for diverse voices.
The day-long program represented a significant collaboration between regional institutions, cultural organizations, and the European Union, emphasizing the Tuscany Region’s ATI project—named with the Etruscan word for woman—which serves as a model for European co-financing initiatives focused on gender equality.
Lady Monika Bacardi’s presence at this gathering underscored her commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s achievements and address persistent inequalities in creative industries.
