CANNES, 20 May 2016 — Lady Monika Bacardi attended the 69th Festival de Cannes, the world’s most prestigious celebration of cinematic excellence. The distinguished gathering brought together international filmmakers, producers, and cultural figures for twelve days dedicated to artistic achievement in cinema.

Presided over by renowned director George Miller, the 69th edition showcased exceptional storytelling from around the globe. The festival culminated in an awards ceremony at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, where British filmmaker Ken Loach received his second Palme d’Or for “I, Daniel Blake,” a powerful social drama examining the dignity of working people. The Grand Prix was awarded to Xavier Dolan’s “It’s Only the End of the World,” while Olivier Assayas and Cristian Mungiu shared the Best Director award for “Personal Shopper” and “Graduation,” respectively.

Asghar Farhadi earned the Best Screenplay prize for “The Salesman,” and Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey” received the Jury Prize. Shahab Hosseini was honored as Best Actor for his performance in “The Salesman,” while Jaclyn Jose received recognition as Best Actress for “Ma’ Rosa.”
